Job Summary

An exciting and new opportunity has become available for an experienced Project Accountant. Our ideal candidate will be based in our Support Centre in George.

The successful candidate will be responsible for various accounting and system related projects.

Our ideal candidate must be self-motivated, positive, and passionate about performance, a resilient individual who can think laterally and who has strong analytical and proven accounting abilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assessing proposed system changes & business processes, and the impact on Finance team.
Involvement in scoping and implementation of system changes & business processes within the Finance team where applicable.
Maintenance & documentation of Finance systems mapping, policies & procedures.
Thorough testing and interrogation of system changes in test environment.
Coordinate and resolve ERP system issues within assigned areas and investigate anomalies.
Data cleansing and review, with specific emphasis on the stock processes, with support to the Stock Accountant as required.
Coordinate and resolve ERP system issues within assigned areas and investigate anomalies.
Involvement in new business projects with specific focus on the impact on the Finance Team, including setup of reconciliations, internal processes etc.
Liaison with IT / Business Analysists.
Assistance with financial accounting matters as required, including:
Reconciliation of Lay Buys database to general ledger.
Reconciliation of Gift Vouchers database to general ledger.
Year end and quarterly journals and provisions.
Management of the Tekkie Town Cash Ups team, with focus on trouble shooting, systems & processes.
Assistance with internal & external audits.
2022: Assist the Tekkie Town Finance Manager with ERP migration project, with specific emphasis on finance team requirements (NAV to Business Central (BC))
Thorough testing and interrogation of finance processes in BC test environment.
Assistance with migration / project documentation for internal and external auditors.
Assistance in post implementation phase, including report generation & set up.
Assistance to the business in terms of process change management & documentation of new processes

Qualifications and Experience


B Comm/ proven accounting field experience
Strong Excel/ data handling abilities

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ relevant accounting experience preferably within retail/manufacturing or similar environment
Proficiency in the latest Microsoft packages (Word & Advanced Excel) is an essential requirement
Good communication skills
A strong logical thinking and analytical ability with excellent numerical skills and the ability to be accurate and pay attention to detail.
This person must be performance-driven and deadline-orientated.
Excellent planning, organizing and time management skills.
Ability to remain flexible, function under pressure and maintain a positive attitude and work performance in a variety of circumstances.
Ability to multi-task and to deal with complexities, use initiative to solve problems.
Ability to work independently, as well as be a team player.

Additional Requirements

5 yrs experience on NAVision accounting software package is preferred.
Possess an understanding of system policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned
