Gauteng Provincial Government is looking to employ a Security Officer.
-Protect state properties, employees, visitors in the facility 24 hours;
-Access control and searching of both vehicles and pedestrians;
-Report security breaches and defects to the Assistant Director: Physical Security and Security Management unit;
-Escort visitors and contractors;
-Write statement and incidents reports and submit to supervisor;
-Write and submit reports to supervisor as soon as possible;
-Conduct hourly patrol; Control of traffic on premises;
-Provide directions to staff, visitors and contractors;
-Operate and maintain security equipment’s;
-Monitor all surveillance security systems/cameras within the Control room in an efficient manner and in compliance with the operating procedures, legislation and best practice;
-Record all events, incidents and actions taken in a clear, legible and accurate written format;
-Ensure the security of the control room and equipment’s is maintained at all times and to report equipment failure to the Security Admin officer or Security Management;
-Operate X Ray Machine Equipment and Metal Detectors;
-Operate Alarm intruder control panel;
-Comply with security dress code always;
-Perform other duties as allocated by the supervisors;
-Comply with duty roster; Be willing to undergo continuous training and development Programme;
-Attend meetings as approved by the supervisor.
-Grade 10 plus Grade C PSIRA Certificate in Security Management and must be registered with PSIRA, coupled with 2 years working experience in security management environment.
-Competencies: Knowledge of Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act, Access Control Procedures, Trespass Act;
-Skills in dealing with the public;
-Ability to communicate well with people at different levels and from different background;
-High level of reliability;
-Ability to handle confidential information;
-Sound, verbal, and written communication skills;
-Ability to act with tact and discretion;
-Ability to deal with the people;
-Good telephone Etiquette and interpersonal skills;
-Must be able to work under pressure, take initiative, and work independently and with a team;
-Self-motivated; Must be prepared to rotate and work shifts which include weekends, night and day shift and public holidays;
-Must not have a criminal record.
-A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage.
-The appointed candidates will be expected to report to PDMC and Johannesburg.
