The Auditing and ECO division is currently in the market for a passionate, driven and knowledgeable Environmental Control Officer (ECO) with mid-level experience to form part of our team working as an Onsite Independent ECO at a mine located Near Middleburg. This position will be on a fixed term contract basis for a three (3) month period with consideration for permanent employment at the discretion of ENVASS.
Must have a passion for environmental conservation and sustainability and be eager to learn and engage in different tasks.
Minimum of a BSc degree in the natural science field that incorporated some or all of the following: Environmental Management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Law, Environmental Science or similar.
At least 1 to 2 years' experience in conducting Environmental Control Officer compliance assessments, Environmental Officer internal assessments or other compliance related assessments independently with minimal or no supervision.
Must have some experience with compliance requirements of Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Authorisations and Environmental Management Programs.
Must have own, reliable transport and a valid driver's license with a minimum of 2 years' experience on the road.
Demonstrate excellent communication, computer literacy and report writing skills in English.
Must be able to work independently and within a team environment.
Must be able to attend client required site meetings and present findings and non conformances to project team.
Must be located at or near Witbank / Middleburg, Mpumalanga or be willing to relocate for the project period.
Must be willing to work 14 consecutive days with reasonable rest periods as per condition 15(3)(a) of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
Professional registered with SACNASP (or in process).
Have completed ECO / Environmental auditing or related training courses.
Have experience in Mining and Construction related fields.
