•Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position in the Packaging Department based at Supply Chain Plant, Wadeville in Johannesburg.
•The successful incumbent will report to the Packaging Manager.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
o Implement, maintain, and continually improve policies/procedures to ensure consistency and improvement in plant technical performance
o Liaison with OEM’s
o Liaison with other departments (Site & Group-wide) and cooperation as part of a cross-functional team taking various requirements into consideration
o Manage and lead packaging engineering staff to deliver on plant and business KPI’s
o Maintain a safe, healthy and risk-free working environment
o Maintain maintenance integrity – compliance and execution
o Optimise plant availability
o Plan and implement maintenance priorities – create best practices
• Implement preventative maintenance regime
• Execute swift breakdown maintenance regime
o Providing input and support to manufacturing and development departments, whilst ensuring compliance with customer, technical and legislative requirements within the Group.
o In an environment that demands high-energy performance levels - the preferred candidate will demonstrate practical, consistent and innovative ways to facilitate ongoing improvements to all aspects of the Packaging maintenance engineering portfolio.
o Assist Project Engineers with installation and commissioning of projects (project execution)
o Assist Project Engineers with performance acceptance testing of new and refurbished equipment
o Manage projects of a smaller nature
o Perform maintenance audits on packaging equipment
o Compile reports and make recommendations
o Liaise with suppliers of equipment/clients for complete refurbishments/shutdowns/ etc. Co-ordinate when required
-The successful candidate must have the following qualifications/experience/skills:
•BSc or BTech Engineering degree
Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) (advantageous) or in the process of obtaining it
• Minimum 8 years working experience in a Packaging/Production/FMCG packaging development environment
•Minimum of 6 years Management experience within a Packaging/Production/FMCG environment
•Be systematic in solving technical problems
•Demonstrate excellent budgetary, project, process, and people management skills
•Have good leadership skills and experience in handling IR related issues
•Have good business communication skills, both written and spoken
•Be able to work under pressure
•Be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
•Have sound planning and organising abilities
•Proven previous Project Management experience
•Strategic thinking skill
•Ability to work independently and meet demanding deadlines
•Be action-oriented, self-driven, & motivated
•Strong numerical aptitude
•Attention to detail and analytical abilities are essential
