Construction and architecture usually go hand in hand, no one thing can work on it won they rely on each other. Architecture jobs involve drawing maps, blueprints, and site plans of construction items. In this article, we take a look at the various types of jobs you can find in construction and architecture.

Construction Manager
A construction manager is tasked with the role of overseeing the whole of the construction project that is done well from start to finish. They accept the role of planning, budgeting, and overseeing that the project runs smoothly. They decide on what material to use, employee scheduling, and also when the whole project is going to start and finish. They are the ones who are usually in connection with the client, they are the mediators between the client and the construction company.
Construction managers work in close tandem with other field specialists, such as architects, civil engineers, electricians, and carpenters. Depending on the nature of the project, construction managers may work with lawyers and government officials. An example is when working on the local authority-owned property or municipal buildings, construction managers at times check in with city inspectors to make sure that all regulations are met.

• Overseeing and directing construction projects from conception to completion
• Reviewing the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
• Overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations

Construction managers usually possess a degree in management, architecture engineering, or any degree equivalent. The job requires competency and excellent project management skills. Even though there are many ways to enter this occupation, due to the advancement and evolution of technology it is becoming increasingly necessary for construction managers to possess a bachelor’s degree in construction science, construction management, architecture, or engineering. As construction procedures become more intricate, recruiters are placing greater importance on specialized education.

Engineers are essential on a job site and may focus on building, electrical, mechanical, highway, or heavy. Engineers make use of computer technology to generate plans for their projects and travel to job sites to oversee their implementation.

Electricians are part of the construction team. They install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in both residential and commercial areas. Major training is obligatory for this role, usually through learning institutions or apprenticeships. Projected Growth: 9%

The architect is responsible for picturing the customer’s desires and coming up with a creative solution. They develop creative plans, communicate the plans to other construction workers, and monitor their execution. They must be included in a project from start to finish to make sure that the client’s vision is being implemented correctly. Architects design physical structures such as malls, houses, office buildings, and factories. Architects are not only responsible for the looks of the structure but also for the functionality, safety levels, and also cost of building that structure.
To be an architect you are required to have a bachelor of science in architecture or a national diploma or equivalent. Graduates have to go on to do internships under the guidance of a registered architect. Once this learning is completed, they then have to register with the South African council of architects.
